And yes, absolutely! I find it different than just editing, because I feel as though I'm sitting with her when she wrote it, and I don't want to change her perspective, just add to what else I've observed.
But for real, if I didn't understand people, study them for my day job, read subtext before the actual text, and suffer abuse that made me way more hypervigilant, I don't think I'd be this successful.
